U.S. President Donald Trump and members of the U.S. coronavirus task force provided an update Tuesday on the administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trump began the daily briefing saying that 20 states, representing 40 per cent of the American population, are preparing to reopen their economy.
Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin discussed an approved stimulus bill that would help small businesses and hospitals, and expand testing capabilities. He also said large companies and organizations that took prior financial assistance would have to repay that money, which also included Harvard University.
Trump also discussed his executive order to put a pause on immigration for 60 days, saying workers inside the country needed to be looked after first and also said it’s possible the order could be extended at a later date.
Also, Trump wished North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un well after news reports surfaced about his health being in grave condition.
